I have been painting since I was 13, and began showing and selling my work for the last 15 years. I focus mostly on the relationship between color and the emotions it can evoke.
I often use texture and non-paint materials in my paintings. Most paintings are very abstract, and sometimes more conceptual. My recent work has been dealing with creating the illusion of movement through the way I place the paint on the canvas. I also enjoy painting semi-realistic imagery from photographs. I have also been commissioned to create artwork from people's personal mementos, and I have found that to be very fun and rewarding.
Most often, when I feel inspired, I do a painting by working long hours over several days. I feel compelled to continue until I sense I've reached a certain point of completion, and I never really know until I have gotten there that I am done. Once a painting is finished—that's it. I rarely go back and add or change anything after I feel the moment has passed and I have signed the painting.
